Kenyans on social media have reacted sharply to the latest development in which a man who recorded and released the video of Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip enjoying a good time with a female colleague while breaking the law was arraigned in court.
The woman in the video who was in the company of the lawmaker and who was seen smoking shisha despite the substance being banned in the country has since been identified as Aeedah Bambi.
Appearing before a Nairobi court today, Wednesday 17 2021, Jones Ochieng Mbolo pleaded guilty to charges against him.
The accused said he took the video because shisha smoking is illegal in the country hence he felt the Senator should be a role model to Kenyans and should not be part of those breaking laws at will.
According to court papers, Mbolo was charged with attempting to extort money from the woman in the video, Aeedah ‘Bambi’ Pesian Ahmed.
The court heard that he allegedly threatened Aeedah that he would expose on social media platforms the video taken of her contravening the law by smoking shisha.
The case, in which Senator Loitiptip is listed as one of the witnesses, was mentioned before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku.
