Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot was on the receiving end of Comedian Eric Omondi’s wrath after the lawmaker delved into the Comedian’s recent arrest.
The clash got nasty with Eric Omondi not mincing his words in calling the Senator a thief with no moral authority to address the president of African comedy.
It all began when the Senator took to social media to endorse the arrest in a post that read:
“I support @EzekielMutua on his action to reign in on Eric Omondi. I am a big fan of art. I consume a lot of it. But what Eric was doing is not art. There is no art in depicting naked girls and groping them for the cameras. Eric needs help”.
Omondi fired back noting that whatever issues that may have been there had already been addressed by Kenya Film Classification Board’s Ezekiel Mutua who has the moral authority to take actions.
“DR. Ezekiel Mutua is a moral cop and has the moral authority to address me and we have talked with him and agreed amicably. But this THIEF has no moral authority to address me. Where does a local senator get the audacity to address the PRESIDENT of an entire CONTINENT. Bwana Cheruiyot naona umeanza ku campaign na kutafuta kura na Jina yangu, fanya tu kazi utakua sawa bro. Stay on your lane YOUNG MAN ama ntakuja hapo nikungoe hizo MENO NONSENSE,” wrote Eric Omondi.
The comedian was taken in on Thursday alongside the ladies featuring in his wife search show and detained at Nairobi Central Police Station.
He was however released on Friday on a bond of Ksh 50,000.
Shortly after his release, Eric offered a public apology in which he committed to review his content to comply with existing laws.
Reports further indicate that entertainment heavyweights, Churchil and Jalang’o are at the center of mediation efforts to mend the bridge between Eric and Ezekiel Mutua.
