Woman dies after jumping from the 5th floor of Nairobi residential building, leaving a suicide note behind

Police are investigating an incident in which a woman committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of a residential building in Kabete.

The 51-year-old identified as Christine Akinyi reportedly left behind a suicide note whose contents are yet to be revealed.

The matter was reported to the police by her husband, James Nguala who narrated that the deceased left their rented house and climbed to the rooftop from where she jumped to her death.

The body was ferried to Chiromo mortuary and handed over to government pathologists for post mortem.

Her death is the latest to make headlines.

A middle-aged man committed suicide by jumping from the 8th floor of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company at Parklands Plaza, Nairobi on 05 March 2021.

Reports indicate that Kevin Njagi who worked at the company contacted his parents at around 8 aminforming them of his intention to commit suicide.

Twenty minutes later, he jumped to his death in an incident that shocked his colleagues.

It is suspected that the deceased was depressed even though he rarely opened up on what he was going through.

“He was a good friend and I’m so shocked because I did not know he was going through something that could cost him his life,” a source privy to the matter stated.

Police sources confirmed the incident, adding that investigations have been launched into the same.
