Details have emerged on why President Uhuru Kenyatta snubbed a meeting convened by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula, and KANU’s Gideon Moi under the One Kenya Alliance banner.

Photos taken at the meeting which went down on Saturday showed the four politicians sitting round in a circle with one empty chair in between them, an indication that the occupant of the chair was a no-show.

It has since emerged that the One Kenya Alliance brigade was anticipating the attendance and participation of the president who disappointed them.

Well-placed sources have since confirmed that the president opted to stay away from the meeting after touching base with Raila Odinga who was getting jittery over what was perceived as the president’s new game plan on 2022 succession.

The head of State met Raila at his Karen home on Wednesday night where the two resolved to shun 2022 succession politics and focus on development and pushing the BBI agenda and subsequently held a joint press conference and touyr the following day (Thursday last week).

To remain neutral on the 2022 succession plan, the head of state skipped the Saturday meeting in what many believe was to appease his handshake partner.

In particular, Gideon Moi was taked with obtaining the blessings of the president for the alliance which has been working round the clock to isolate Raila and secure Uhuru’s endorsement.

Already, there are speculations powerful officials working inside the Office of the President bankrolling the new outfit, to help them cut their political teeth outside Raila’s shadow.
