A day after meeting DP Ruto, Kakamega governor and ODM Deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya on Friday, April 9 was holed up in a meeting with ODM partyy leader Raila Odinga in the latter’s Karen home.
The meeting came after what Oparanya called a ‘chance’ meeting with the DP at the Olare Motorogi Conservancy on Thursday, April 8 and during which he was reportedly offered a deal.
Present at the Karen meeting was Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, with the pair briefing the former Prime Minister on what was deliberated on during the chance meeting with DP Ruto.
Oparanya also stated that the meeting with Odinga was meant to discuss how the ODM party would be strengthened ahead of the next election in 2022.
They also brought Odinga up to speed with the latest political developments in Western Kenya and what would be the best partnerships to form ahead of 2022.
DP Ruto’s desire to team up with ODM in an alliance ahead of 2022 was also brought to the attention of Mr. Odinga.
Conflicting accounts would emerge after Oparanya’s meeting with DP Ruto at the Olare Motorogi Conservancy where former Sports CS Rashid Echesa and former Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri were also present.
Echesa would maintain that UDA officials were attending a meeting at the venue and were joined by the Kakamega Governor.
Oparanya on the other hand stated that it was a chance meeting as he had scheduled a business meeting at the lodge when he met the Tanga Tanga duo.
