The ongoing political realignments with talks of new alliances coming up have seen ODM party leader Raila Odinga assemble an effivcient team backed by deep pockets in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In preparation for an ultimate face-off with Deputy President William Ruto who has emerged as a front-runner and cognizant of the fact that politics is an expensive venture, the former Prime Minister has brought billionaires on board.

Although he is yet to declare interest in the 2022 contest, well placed sources close to Odinga have on numerous sources revealed that the ODM party leader could be in the contest with the following prominent businessmen in his camp.

Jimmy Wanjigi

After supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013, Jimmy Wanjigi crossed over to Odinga’s side in 2017.

The billionaire who made his fortune in business was at the heart of a protracted police raid in 2017 that ended up in court with his allies blaming the raid on his political association with Raila.

Having him in his corner, the ODM party leader may benefit from his deep pockets and connections.

Joho Family

The flamboyant Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and his family is definitely an asset to have in your corner.

Apart from his deep pockets, Joho is a charismatic leader with a nationwide appeal and remains one of the most popular governors.

He brings with him the Coastal vote block and pockets of votes from across the country where he enjoys support.

Francis Atwoli

Atwoli is a man of able means with good mobilization sKills that any aspirant would be happy to have and currently Raila Odinga is the lucky one.

The COTU boss has not only endorsed Odinga, but has been at the heart of several meetings hosted at his Kajiado home where 2022 politics was part of the agenda.

Recent realignments have seen several billionaires from Rift Valley who supported DP Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta severe ties with the second in command.

Among them is billionaire businessman Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki who joined Isaack Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani before bolting out and warming up to the charms of Raila Odinga.
