Raila Odinga’s recent political moves have prompted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s team to move in swiftly with a clear-cut agenda.

People Daily reports that this became evident during yesterday’s meetween between Raila Odinga and Kanu chairman Gideon Moi and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s younger brother Muhoho at Odinga’s Karen home.

The publication reports that both Moi and Muhoho were “concerned” by recent statements from Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement brigade indicating that they were warming up to an alliance with DP Ruto.

The publication quoted a source familiar with the details stating that “Although the two leaders visited Jakom (Raila) to wish him a quick recovery, there were certain issues on the table that required to be addressed”.

“The three talked about politics and a possible 2022 alliance. We are exploring ways in which the two politicians can work together,” added the source.

The well-placed source reiterated that a clear agenda has been cut out to ensure that Raila does not work with DP Ruto and that the former Prime Minister becomes part of the next government.

“We cannot allow Raila to work with Ruto. Baba must be in the next government. We are baking the 2022 cake and he must be in it because he has a lot to offer,” said the source.

The same was confirmed by Tiaty MP William Kamket, a close ally of Gideonwho said that KANU will not allow Ruto to form an alliance with Raila.

“Sisi hatuwezi wacha Baba aende kwa Ruto (we cannot allow Raila to join forces with Ruto). Ruto is sinking and we have to let him sink. He was on the verge of getting a lifeline through Raila and we can’t allow that to happen,” said Kamket.
