Raila adopts a ruthless strategy after meeting Gideon Moi and Muhoho Kenyatta

With political temperatures rising, ODM party leader Raila Odinga has adopted a ruthless political strategy, seeking to weaken his competitors and critics before leaving them with no option but to join his team which stands a better chance of emerging victorious.

The strategy seems to have been triggered by recent political realignments and a meeting between the former Prime Minister and KANU’s Gideon Moi and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s younger brother, Muhoho Kenyatta.

At the center of the strategy is an efficient team assembled to court new regional heavyweights and render the current ones powerless so that should they decide to team up with DP Ruto or any other competitor for that matter, the impact will be minimal.

First on the ODM party leader’s radar is Wiper Party leader who has on several occassions maintained that he will not play second fiddle to anyone and with reports indicating that DP Ruto’s camp could also be eyeing the former Vice President.

On Tuesday, Raila dispatched his political machinery from the Lower Eastern region to meet Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and discuss the possibility of forging an alliance ahead of 2022.

Also on the radar are governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui)and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) who wield significant influence in their regions.

The move is aimed at watering down the Kalonzo-effect in Eastern, rendering him a general without troops.
Speaking after the meeting that took place in Wote town, the ODM chairmen from the three Ukambani counties of Makueni, Kitui and Machakos disclosed that the meeting was fruitful.

Kitui ODM chairman Peter Munyasya said they “had a fruitful discussion with Kibwana about national and regional politics and crucially about emerging national and regional development issues within the region.”

“On behalf of ODM, we request Governor Kibwana and his allies to work with ODM either directly or through a like-minded party of his choice in propelling his political development agenda,” Munyasya said after the meeting.

Reports indicate that a similar strategy will be adopted against other competitors with the ODM party leader leaving the door wide open for anyone willing to join his camp.
