Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru was elated as she marked her 50th birthday in style today, Friday, April 16.
Taking to Social media, Waiguru thanked God for the progress she has made in her lifetime, rising to be a first time governor and among the few women county heads in the nation.
The first-term governor also attached CeCe Winans’s hit song, Goodness of God along with her post.
Waiguru thanked her family and friends for the support they have accorded her all along, standing by her side through her tribulations inclufding being hounded out of the Ministry of Devolution, tough campaigns in which she floored Martha Karua and her Impeachment by MCAs which was overturned at the Senate.
“Today I turn 50! I am most grateful to God for I have seen His goodness in the land of the living! I have seen Him in my joys and successes. And through my seasons of fires and in the darkest nights, He has been closer like no other. I am blessed to have wonderful family and friends and to be in good health. What a blessing to turn 50 today,” Waiguru said.
Waiguru’s rise to the top has been through sheer sweat and hard work, leaving a mark at every stage of her career.
She started off as a civil servant working behind the boardroom and rose to be a Cabinet Secretary before her election as as governor.
In 2011, the mother of three who is married to City Lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo was nominated as the Top 40 under 40 women.
