Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday night, April 15 opened up on his tribulations, admiting that he has been humiliated in the Jubilee Government headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and vowing never to allow his Deputy to go throught what he has been subjected to.
In an interview with Citizen TV’s Linus Kaikai, Ruto declined to delve into his relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta but acknowledged that very many Deputy Presidents are fought by people close to the sitting President as is his experience and added that if he ascends to the Presidency, he would never allow his deputy to undergo the same.
“That is an unfortunate situation. Given an opportunity, I will not allow my DP to be humiliated the way former DPs have been humiliated and the way I have been humiliated. I will not allow,” the DP declared.
Ruto stated that his tribulations began in the second term when powerful individuals close to Uhuru conspired to humiliate him by denying him access to the Jubilee headquarters or cutting his budget, all in a bid to make him resign alleging that he had disrespect the President.
“There are people who believe they can push me to resign but I want to remind them that I was elected. I am not going to give them the opportunity to celebrate their effort to push me out of government,” he affirmed.
Ruto dismissed the allegations of disrepsect stating that he had approached the head of state both in private and in public to cite incidences of disrespect but there was none.
“I asked the president to produce information showing what I had done in private and in public to disrespect him or to elevated myself beyond what my duties are and the president was very candid with me, he told me there is no such information.
The director of intelligence was there and he also did not produce any information on the same,” he added.
