ODM Deputy Party Leader Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has spoken on his readiness to team up with Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.
The Kakamega governor reiterated while he is ready to work with Ruto that does not mean he’ll ditch the ODM party for Ruto-linked UDA party.
Oparanya who was speaking at a recent interview explained that the second-in-command is the undisputed king of Rift Valley and as such is an important player who cannot be ignored.
The region has millions of voters that can tilt the scales in favour of any Candidate and currently, Ruto looks poised to sweep it clean.
“You can be his enemy, but the Deputy President is my friend. Kenyans should allow leaders to express themselves and talk freely.
“I cannot ignore Ruto. He has his people intact. Nobody can beat him in Rift Valley,” he said.
The Kakamega county boss added that he is set to expand his political engagements in the coming days, meeting several key leaders.
Among the leaders he is set to meet include; President Uhuru Kenyatta, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi.
“I will be meeting the Wiper leader very soon. I also want to meet the President and leaders of other parties, among them Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula, to discuss the same,” he opined.
Oparanya recently sent tongues wagging after meeting DP Ruto in the Maasai Mara in what he called “chance” meeting.
Ruto would afterwards confirm that the meeting was part of five others that they have held over the last two years as they consider working together.
