ODM party issues statement ahead of the BBI parliamentary debate

Hours after the committee delivered a report on the ongoing push for the constitutional ammendment through the Building Bridges Initiative, ODM party has today Tuesday 27, 2021 issued a statement.

Through their party Chairman John Mbadi, it instructed the party’s members of parliament (MPs) to orient themselves to their (party’s) stand on the 2020 amendment Bill.

This is after the parliament set Wednesday and Thursday as their days for debate on the bill in a special sitting called by the two speakers.

“It is the party’s position that Parliament should pass the BBI Bill as it is, in its entirety. This is, therefore, a rallying call to our members and supporters out there to prepare to vote for the Bill once it is presented to them in the referendum,” the statement read in part.

The party chair went ahead to send a message to the handshake partners – President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

“Mr President and Rt Hon. Raila Odinga get this assurance from us as a party; You have enough troops both behind you and by your sides to help push this agenda through. Do not be afraid. Do not be distracted. Do not be blackmailed,” the statement added.
