Uhuru lifts lockdown in Nairobi and 4 other counties, revises curfew hours

President Uhuru Kenyatta has today, Saturday, May 1, lifted the cessation of movement in the Counties of Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Kiambu and Nakuru.

The announcement was made during Labour Day celebrations that also saw the president announce that curfew had also been revised to 10pm to 4am from 8pm to 4am.

The changes were made after the Covid-19 positivity rate went low in the last one month following the strict measures that were rolled out.

Other directives issued by the head of state are as follows:

  1. All schools to reopen according to the calendar issued by Ministry of Education.
  2. Restaurants and bars can open until 7 pm.
  3. Curfew back to 10 pm and cessation of movement in the diseased zone lifted.
  4. In-person and congregational worship to resume countywide but capacity be a third of capacity.
  5. Political gathering ban extended.
