Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga is in mourning following the sad and untily demise of former Matungu Member of Parliament Joseph Wamukoya.
In his message seen by Kenya leo, the former prime minister said he had lost a friend who was committed to serving his Matungu Constituents and the whole nation.
Odinga added that Wamukoya had left a permanent mark in the field of veterinary as a Director of the Veterinary Services in Kenya.
The AU special envoy also took time to pray for the comfort of his family and the people of Matungu during these trying times.
“I wish fortitude to the family of former Matungu MP Joseph Wamukoya, who has passed on. This was a very close friend who was deeply committed to our country and to his people of Matungu. He left an indelible mark as director of Veterinary Services in Kenya. My thoughts are with his family and the people of Matungu,” said Raila Odinga.
Reports privy to his death indicates that Wamukoya died earlier today after a short illness.
He served during the era of the second President late President Daniel Arap Moi, when he became an assistant minister.
This comes weeks after the ODM leader recently mourned his friend and veteran University of Nairobi don, Professor Charles Odidi Okidi.
In his message to the family Odinga delved in Okidi’s excellence and passion in research, scholarship, development, and governance terming his demise a gap too wide to be filled.
“I woke up to sad news of the passing of an intellectual giant and a dear friend of decades, Prof. Charles Okidi. Passionate about research, scholarship, development, and governance, Okidi leaves a gap that will remain for long. I join family and academia in mourning him. RIP Prof,” Raila eulogized.
