Citizen TV apologizes to Nairobi DJ over blunder during prime-time news

Citizen Television yesterday May 3, 2021, apologized to the City based Deejay Jones alias VDJ Jones after a wrongful usage of his photo during a prime-time news bulletin.

This is after the media  house erroneously and mistakenly used his photo while announcing the death of his closest friend DJ Mike Kay.

Through their anchor Trevor Ombija during the next bulletin, the news company tendered a personal apology to the popular entertainer during his Monday report presentation.

“This is why we’re starting this story with an apology because during our earlier broadcast at 7 pm we inadvertently used the wrong pictures of VDJ Jones while making reference to DJ Mike Kay,” Trevor Ombija stated.

DJ Mike Kays body was found dumped in Murang’a County’s river Mathioya over the weekend, with his close friend VDJ Jones recalling their days together while training him.

Dissociating himself with the news, VDJ Jones threatened to move to the corridors of justice to sue the media house and the reporter who compiled the story for the blunder.

“I wish to disassociate myself from this report by Citizen TV Nipashe News. I am alive and kicking. I will press charges against Citizen TV and the reporter Gatete Njoroge,” Jones stated.

The development adds to the tally of the mistakes made by the media houses during news hours after just a recent similar one with a rival KNT news house.

KTN  news broad castor recently registered his deepest apologies to Kulei’s family for using Mr Kulei’s photo in breaking the news of the then sudden death of former state house comptroller.

Mr. Joshua Kulei was former President Daniel Moi’s personal aid, while Mr. Abraham Kiptanui was the state House controller during the Moi era hence the mix-up.
