Weeks after ascending to power as the Tanzanian next head of state, Samia Suluhu today morning visited Kenya and was hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta in Statehouse Nairobi.
Suluhu touched down in the morning at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and was warmly received by foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo.
This preceded a guard of owner mounted for her at the Statehouse for inspection, thereafter a 21-gun salute followed.
Conspicuously missing during this colorful event in both venues was the Kenyan Deputy President Dr. William Ruto.
This raised a lot of concerns from Kenyans online with many asking questions about the DP’s whereabouts during President Suluhu’s maiden visit to Kenya since assuming office.
Consequently, through his official Twitter handle, the DP shared photos of his parallel Meeting held with a Kajiado Pastor Rev. Daniel Lotuno of AIC Ilmasin, Kiserian at his Nairobi Karen house.
The after-meeting pictures featured the DP gifting Reverend Daniel Lotuno a brand new black Toyota prado to enhance his ministry.
“Handed over a vehicle to Rev. Daniel Lotuno of AIC Ilmasin, Kiserian, Kajiado County. Blessed to have joined the church in acquiring a tool for evangelization,” Ruto stated.
This is not the first time the DP is skipping events organized or overseen by his boss with the most recent being the vaccination drive rallied by President Uhuru Kenyatta on senior government officials at State House.
The DP later on in an interview with Citizen’s Linus Kaikai noted that he might have been forgotten in the invitees’ list.
Dr. Ruto also skipped President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Covid-19 briefing at the Kenyatta International Convention Center in Nairobi sometime last year with his chair remaining empty the entire time, with reports later emerging that the DP was not invited to the event.
