DP Ruto faces impeachment after BBI vote loss as Amos Kimunya issues tough statement

Barely a day after his side lost the BBI vote in the national assembly with some of his allies making a U-turn, Deputy President William Ruto is staring at possible impeachment.

Address the press on Friday, 07 May 2021, Majority leader and Kipipiri Member of Parliament Amos Kimunya made it clear that DP Ruto will be kicked out of government.

Kimunya warnned the second in command to tow the line and respect the head of state or face the conzequences.

He added that the camp allied to Presirdent Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga have the numbers to see DP Ruto’s impeachment succeed both in the Senate and in the National Assembly.

His argument was based on the fact that 235 out of 320 MPs voted for the BBI bill on May 6.

“Those who have been promised wheelbarrows in future must read the mood. The ground is solidly behind the President.

“We hope their leader has seen the light and will stop defying the President. If he continues with his defiance, these numbers give us confidence and we could escalate things to the next step (impeachment) we have the numbers,” Kimunya warned.

He stated that for now they have opted for peace and magnanimity.
“We are merely being magnanimous. These numbers can lead to other things. They can make somebody lose his job as provided for in the constitution. However, we are focusing on peacebuilding and wouldn’t want to try that route now,” Junet forewarned.

Ruto allies however see no challenge in the threats anbd have dared those keen on impeaching the second in command to proceed with their plans.

“Let them not discuss the impeachment of the Deputy President in bars, in funerals, and in their apartments. Let them bring it to the floor of the House,” former National Assembly
Majority leader Aden Duale dared.
