DP Ruto raids Raila’s hometurf, launches mega recruitment drive ahead of 2022

In what appears as move to building and strengthening his support base in Raila Odinga’s Nyanza home turf Deputy President William Ruto has embarked on mega recruitment drive.

The DP through his UDA linked party has embarked on the employment of local leaders to buld support in Raila’s hometurf ahead of 2022.

In Kisii County the party leaders are using the Bonchari mini polls as an acid test, with the local politicians led by Mugirango South legislator Sylvanus Osoro doing the magic.

The County has always been seen as a swing County in the upcoming general elections with the DP making numerous in-roads into the region before Covid-19 struck halting the campaigns.

In the neighboring Migori County, Kuria West MP Marwa Kitayama and Kuria East MP Mathias Robi are leading the popularity push with their key strategy being registering locals to the party.

“We are preparing for a battle that requires the people and we’re enlisting them to support us,” Kitayama said.

Reports indicate that a record 500 people have registered as party members in Migori County in the past one month.

The party also made daring move in launching an office in the heart of Nyanza in Kisumu, and went ahead to unveil leaders in the capacities John Oddenyo interim chair, Luko Ouko County Director, Claris Ogolla Secretary and Paul Achola as the treasurer.

“It is important to note that the Luo Nation generally is going through a political transition as hustler nation politics has infiltrated the community,” Odenyo said after unveiling the office.

ODM however laughed off the matter stating that every party has a right to seek the mandate of the Citizen and pitching tent anywhere.

“They have a right to look for support. However, their move will not affect the strength of ODM, and we will continue to dominate the region,” Kisumu ODM chair Ayiecho Olweny said.
