Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkoment took a swipe at the ODM leader Raila Odinga and his Wiper counterpart with scathing attacks days after the high court of Kenya made a ruling on the BBI.

Talking the judges earlier today through a tweet, the DP Ruto supporter alleged that the two top leaders are not interested in the BBI, while adding that they are “the only sober group”.

The Tanga Tanga senator claimed that the two leaders were only supporting the initiative as a result of their own personal interest.
“To our Judges who may never understand politics, as your younger brother let me assure you that many politicians don’t believe in BBI. Kalonzo, MDVD and Weta are doing it for Uhuru’s endorsement. Raila is for finishing the journey even though was he was shortchanged. You are the only sober group,” he tweeted.

This comes after the high court delivered a ruling on the bill declaring it unconstitutional and not the peoples initiative arguing that a popular initiative cannot originate from the President
The ruling elicited reactions in the handshake quarters with a section of the allied leaders criticizing the judges with reports for appeal from the attorney general and the BBI secretariat.

Other leaders led by the Amani National Congress leader (ANC) have also urged the aggrieved to seek legal redress.

Kalonzo Musyoka on his part called for calm from the people noting that he does not agree with the ruling but respects it.

The former VP continued that ways should be worked to ensure the bill reaches the people for their own verdict.

“The High Court’s decision has stopped the BBI process. Personally, I do not agree with the judgment. But I cannot vilify the judges. In the all-important role of Nation-building we must exercise restraint from anything that could plunge the nation into a crisis.

“The primary intent of BBI is to build real national bridges, not divisions. To build and sustain national ethos, values and a more cohesive society. That kind of mature democracy means that we may not always agree, but we can always respect one another, and most of all, respect of Constitution, and the institutions it has created,” he opined.
