Raphael Tuju announces new strategy after humiliating Juja loss as Moses Kuria focuses on next battle front

Tuju Announces Jubilee National Delegates Convention to Seal DP Ruto's Fate

Hours after the Jubilee party suffered a humiliating defeat in three by-elections and with Moses Kuria’s People’s Empowerment Party and UDA gaining popularity and outshining Jubilee in Mount Kenya region, the party’s secretary general Raphael Tuju has announced a new strategy with the hope of reversing the trend.

In what appears to be a break from tradition, Jubilee’s National Management Committee on Thursday, May 20 resolved and announced that announced that it will be conducting nominations through face to face interviews for the upcoming by-elections in Kiambaa constituency and Muguga ward.

According to the letter announcing the changes and signed by Secretary General Raphael Tuju, the committee revealed that it arrived at the decision after reviewing applications submitted to the county elections board by the applicants.

This marks a shift from how the party selected its flagbearer in the recent Juja by-election, which was done by way of voting in party primaries only for the Jubilee party contestants to suffer humiliating defeats in Juja, Bonchari and Rurii.

Aspirants who wish to fly the Jubilee party flag will interviewed at the Jubilee Party headquarters in Pangani on 22nd, May 2021 from 9am.

The party apologised to the aspirants for the abrupt change in nomination strategy and assured that the process would be democratic, impartial and transparent.

Earlier on 27th April, sent out a notice for interested members to submit their application forms before the 2nd of May.

The Kiambaa by election seat fell vacant after the Member of Parliament, the Late Paul Koinange died in March while Muguga MCA Eliud Ngugi passed on In March at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is already warming up for yet another showdown after an impressive streak of victories with his party growing daily.

In the Kiambaa Constituency, Raymond Kuria will be the PEP candidate, seeking to continue from where Juja MP elect George Koimburi left.
