Jubilee party unveils candidate for Kiambaa by-election days after suffering humiliating losses

Days after suffering humiliating losses in the just concluded by-elections, the ruling Jubilee party has unveiled his candidate for the upcoming Kiambaa mini polls set for July 15, 2021.

The party has finally today May 22, 2021, settled on businessman Kariri Njama after rigorous interviews at the party’s Pangani headquarters in Nairobi.

This comes barely a day after the party’s National Management committee announced change of tact in picking candidates for the subsequent polls settling on face-to-face interviews for aspirants in Kiambaa and Muguga by-elections.

Before the development, the businessman had to dispel reports that he had dumped the ruling party when he announced his intentions to vie in April 2021.

“We are behind the President and the Jubilee party ideologies and we will finish the journey with the President,” he stated.

Before venturing into politics, the businessman has been egged in a number projects through his organisation Kariri Njama foundation, notably where he sponsored top students in the KCSE 2020.

“Congratulations Simiyu Robinson Wanjala. You have made me proud, having paid your school fees when you joined Form One. I’m so proud of you,” he wrote.

The Kiambaa seat fell vacant after the death of the former Member of Parliament Paul Koinange at the Nairobi hospital from Covid-19 complications.

The move comes after the party recently lost in all the three by-elections held on Tuesday May, 18, 2021, with ODM, PEP, and DP Ruto linked UDA parties emerging victorious in the mini polls.

In Bonchari for instance, ODM’s former energy and petroleum boss engineer Pavel Oimeke trounced Jubilee’s Zebedeo Opore, with the same feat repeated in Juja where George Koimburi whitewashed Susan Njeri.
