Kipchumba Murkomen’s special message to President Uhuru ahead of his Kisumu visit

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has moved in swiftly delivering a special message to President Uhuru Kenyatta hours after he met Luo Nyanza leaders.

The President yesterday held a long meeting with former Prime minister Raila Odinga in the company of his foot soldiers from the lake region, ahead of his Kisumu’s Madaraka day celebrations.

Taking to his official Social media handles, the vocal Tanga Tanga allied Senator requested the head of state to also meet leaders from the rift valley region.

Murkomen added that Rift Valley leaders would also wish to engage the commander-in chief on myriads of issues bedeviling the region including the plight of farmers.

The lawmaker sated that the  rift valley region has since been neglected in terms of development hence the need to engage the President.

“If the President means well for Kenya let him and his Deputy meet leaders from every region.,” he said

“For our region, we want to discuss Govt projects & the economy especially farmers issues. Will, he really meet us or visit Rift Valley anytime soon?” he posed.

The message comes ahead of the President Uhuru’s three day visit of the Kisumu region.

This year’s Madaraka day celebrations are to be held in the lake side County where President Uhuru, his Burundi counterpart Evriste Ndayishimiye, and ODM leader Raila Odinga are expected to attend.

President Kenyatta is also set to unveil a number of government projects in the region.

Notable projects earmarked for unveiling by the Head of State are Sh3.8 billion rehabilitated Nakuru-Kisumu Metre Gauge Railway, Sh3 billion refurbished Kisumu port, Sh350 million ultra-modern Uhuru business park, Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium at the Mamboleo ASK ground, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Sports Complex, Inland Container Depot at Kibos and 400kv power project by Ketraco.

He will also commission the marine school in Kisumu which is part of the Railway Training Institute among other projects.
