Alert is requesting an Evaluation Consultant to undertake the final evaluation of the ‘Enabling Good Governance in Kenya’s Oil Sector’ project. The purpose of the final evaluation is to assess the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability, and impact of the project in line with International Alert and USAID standards, including assessing the gender and conflict sensitivity of the programme.

The consultant will prepare an inception report and a detailed work plan elaborating on the ToR. He/She will be expected to conduct interviews with key stakeholders and beneficiaries in Nairobi and Turkana County (as well as with staff based in partner offices in the UK and US. The consultant will also be expected to facilitate a workshop with project partners and key stakeholders to present the findings of the evaluation.


The preferred consultant will have an advanced university degree in social sciences with extensive research experience. Experience in the design and evaluation of advocacy, peacebuilding, and reconciliation initiatives. Fluency in English essential; knowledge of Kiswahili is an asset.

As the assignment will be based in Nairobi, occasional trips to project location areas in Turkana will be part of the assignment.
