A major rift is once again facing the ruling Jubilee outfit after a section of Mt Kenya East leaders expressing their desire to leave the party to champion for their own outfit.
Speaking at the Meru governor Kiraitu Murugi’s thanks giving ceremony for surviving Covid-19, the leaders cited gaining more clout and more bargaining power ahead of the 2022 general elections.
The leaders therefore tasked the Meru governor with coming up with a political party that would raise their profile and offer direction in actualizing the region’s
Socio-economic and social agenda.
Confirming the same, Kiraitu who spoke thereafter agreed with the lawmakers move to have a regional political party ahead of the 2022 general elections.
I agree with those one’s who say we should have a party, politics is a horse race and you can’t go to a horse race without a horse. Tuone ni farasi gani ambaye itatupeleka mbio mpaka pahali tunaenda. Otherwise, for now, let us be patient, we still have one year, maybe as we go into Christmas will have a clearer way about where we are going.” Said Kiraitu Murungi during the ceremony.
