Fiery ODM MP shames Kipchumba Murkomen with damning remarks in bitter exchange

Kipchumba Murkomen

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator and vocal DP Ruto ally, Kipchumba Murkomen was served with bitter pills to swallow when fiery Homabay Town MP, Opondo Kaluma took him head on in a bitter exchange.

It all started when Murkomen alleged attacked the president writing:

“Now that cancellation&completion of projects depends on personal relations with President, what will happen to the people of R.Valley who despite voting for Uhuru have been shunned&despised? No wonder projects like Arror, Kimwarer,Itare, Bosto,Keben,Londiani Hosp.have been killed

Kaluma tackled him swiftly reminding him that for more than eight years, leaders from Rift Valley enjoyed a close relationship with the President but instead of using it to develop the region, they turned it into a looting spree.

The MP wondered why it should be an issue when the president visits Kisumu to launch projects.

“Rift Valley leaders have been with President Kenyatta for 8 years and nobody complained even as they looted everything on site and ensured only people from Rift Valley are appointed… Leaders from Nyanza meet President Kenyatta once in 8 years and hell breaks out!” Slammed Kaluma, silencing Murkomen.

Indeed many mega projects launched in the Rift Valley region remain ghost projects after well-connected and powerful individuals opted to engage in corrupt dealings, looting almost everything.

The most glaring one is the Arror and Kimwarer dams that were meant to solve the perennial water challenges in the region, only for Ksh 21 Billion to be looted.

Agriculture which was the backbone of Rift Valley’s economy is on its death bed with farmers decrying low prices for tea and maize at a time when the region’s king pin, DP Ruto who should vouch for them is the second in command.

Instead, leaders from the region have been extensively engaged in politics, popularizing DP Ruto’s 2022 bid at the expense of development, only to rant on social media when the head of state heads to other regions to launch projects.
