President Uhuru Kenyatta today landed in Kisumu before proceeding to other areas of Nyanza to commission various government projects.
The visit which was preceeded by angry rants from the DP’s camp, led by Kipchumba Murkomen and Moses Kuria went as scheduled with the president receiving a warm welcome and teaming up with Raila Odinga in a tour.
However, DP Ruto who prides himself as a champion of development and who has been using government projects to advance his 2022 agenda was conspicuously absent.
As alert Kenyans wondered where the second in command was after missing in action, the second in command kept a low profile even on social media where he often engages with the public, updating them of his engagements.
On his Facebook page, only one message was shared out, a condolence message following the death of former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile.
It has since emerged that accompanying the president during the tour was not part of DP Ruto’s itinerary.
The second in command spent part of his day holed up in a meeting, perhaps ploting his next move with Kipchumba Murkomen.
Details about the content of their engagements remain scanty with Murkomen sharing a photograph he took with the second in command hinting at the fact that he was benefiting from the wisdom of his political master.
“Learning from the BEST! “
“This is a tete a tete outside the classroom” Added Murkomen.
The president will be in Kisumu for the Madaraka day celebrations and to launch various projects that will cement his legacy.
It remains unclear if his deputy will join him for the visit that continues to send excitement across the lake side city
