Barely a week after arresting their six counterparts along the same route sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations yesterday arrested a three gang men on the Southern by-pass as they prepared an attack against motorists.

Among the three were Brian Mwangi and Nickson Muchiri all aged 25 who were found armed with machettes as the detectives pounced on them.

The Lang’ata based detectives also arrested a third suspect aged 15 as he tried to escape through the Ngong forest, to evade the arrest.

Reports further indicate that the detectives also impounded their two motorbikes they use as gate away means.

This comes barely a week after the authorities smoked out six suspects from the forest after launching an attack on a motorist and his three year old son at the bypass.

The busy bypass has recently been a hotspot for staging criminal activities against unsuspecting motorist plying the route.

The trio will be arraigned in court today to answer to charges of preparing to commit a felony, contrary to section 308 (1) of the penal code.

A number of motorists using the Ngong Road- Mombasa Road stretch have constantly been attacked, especially at night, with the attackers reportedly blocking the highway with large rocks, to ease their operations.
