“Muturi is not our spokesman” Parallel group declares as the cleanse Shrine

A section of the Kikuyu leaders yesterday, gathered at the Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga shrine in Murang’a in prayers and cleansing following a recent move to coronate National assemly speaker Justin Muturi weeks ago at the venue.

The group while cleansing revealed that the shrine was desecrated by the parallel group while anointing Speaker Muturi, whom they rejected as their regional spokesman.

Following the development, the Kikuyu Council of Elders and the Kiama Kia Ma elders insisted that President Uhuru Kenyatta remains the de facto leader from the region, in what appears as yet another display of disquiet in his mountain backyard.

This was amid lamentations by the majority of the elders that many criminals accessed the shrine during the process without cleansing that ought not to have happened.

“Watu hao wengi hawakuwa wamechaguliwa kuomba hapa katika Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga. Ile ilifanyika hapa tarehe ishirini na mbili mwezi wa tano ni ya uwongo, hao wazee hawajaandikishwa, hao ni criminals,” said Dominic Boro.

Muturi’s recent coronation at the shrine has been met with fierce criticism from a section of leaders from the region, with Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria mainatining that President Uhuru remains the spokesman.

“We have cleansed and we have said he is not our spokesman…our spokesman remains President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta,” said Governor wa Iria.

His coronation was backed up by the elders as aimed at uniting the GEMA community and not to challenge President Kenyatta from holding it.

“Muturi comes from the smallest of the communities in Kenya, they are 195,000 people, Kikuyus are over 8 million, Merus are over 6 million…we have gone for the David to lead us and we are proud of that,” said one of the elders.
