Lawmaker Dies In Tragic Night Road Crash

Makueni County legislator Harrison Ngui passed away yesterday night after his car collided with a truck at the Salama area along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

Police report at the Salama police station noted that the truck driver was headed towards Mombasa while Harrison in the opposite direction, when the accident happened at around six.

Confirming the incident, Makueni County police commander Joseph Napeiyanm said that the MCA for Nguu Masumba Ward collided head on with the truck killing him instantly.

“Salama police station is reporting a fatal injury road traffic accident which occurred today 15/06/2021 at about 1830hrs within ACK area along Mombasa Nairobi highway,” reads the report in part.

Harrison was with an unknown female passenger in the same vehicle who died on the way while being rushed to the Machakos level 5 hospital. Their bodies were later transferred to the Machakos Level Five hospital mortuary.

The lawmaker was driving a Toyota Prado of registration number, KBC 555U during the incident, while the truck was of plate number KCH 215G/ZF4201.

The two involved in the accident were later towed to the Salama police station, as investigations are ongoing on the actual cause of the deadly crash.

Eulogizing the firebrand politician, the Wiper Democratic party described Ngui as a great, promising and loyal servant of the people, he was also the deputy majority leader of Makueni county at his death.

“Wiper family mourns the sudden death of the Nguu Masumba Ward MCA Hon. Harrison Ngui. We have lost a great, promising and a loyal servant of the people. Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends. May his soul rest in eternal peace” reads the Wiper Party message.

His County governor Professor Kivutha Kibwana was not left out, noting his relentless effort in ensuring change to his people.

“We have indeed lost a great son this evening via tragic road accident at Salama along Nairobi-Mombasa highway. Your endeavor to bring change to the society will forever be remembered.

Fare thee well Son, Hon. Harris Ngui Musau, MCA Nguu/Masumba ward”.
