New detail in the death of former Gem Member of Parliament Washington Jakoyo Midiwo as family alleges a case of foul play regarding his sudden demise on the Monday June 14, 2021.
Reports from the family indicate that the former legislator was alive and kicking up to the time he was taken ill on Saturday only to die on Monday evening.
According to Midiwo’s elder brother George Jalang’o the family had sought the intervention of the police to piece up the details surrounding the politician’s sudden death.
Jalang’o further noted that as a family, they were not satisfied with the earlier theory that Jakoyo had suffered cardiac arrest.
“We have reported the matter to the police. Midiwo was fit, well and going about his activities and therefore we cannot understand why and how he just fell ill and died,” the brother wondered.
The brother also revealed that after the Covid-19 out break, Jakoyo had limited his movement, and was mostly at his Siaya rural home.
Jalang’o added that the lawmaker also lived a very healthy lifestyle, exercising on a regular basis by walking 15 to 20 Kilometers daily.
The Late Jokoyo’s body is currently lying at the Lee funeral home awaiting post mortem to be conducted to establish the real cause of his death.
Jakoyo was rushed to the Nairobi hospital for treatment on Saturday June 12, 2021 after a sudden illness, and was reportedly doing fine and could speak the following day.
He eventually passed away on the evening of Monday June 14 2021, with the cause of his death earlier said to result from cardiac arrest.
The former ODM legislator was reportedly in Nairobi to celebrate his children’s stellar performances in academics before he was taken ill and eventual death.
“His daughter had recently graduated from a South Africa university while his son scored an A (plain) in the 2020 KCSE exam,” Jalang’o stated.
