Jubilee and ODM to Field One Presidential Candidate in 2022-Tuju Confirms as He Shares More Details of The Pact

Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has confirmed that Jubilee Party will Unite with ODM to field a joint candidate to face off with DP Ruto.

In an interview with the Nation, Tuju confirmed that a taskforce to work on a structured engagement has been set up with the full blessings of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

He clarified that the alliance will be a major one, bringing together all interested parties and will be in place before 2022 elections.

“ As we head towards 2022 elections, we want to have an active engagement and reach an agreement in terms of coming up with an alliance. That is what we are working towards. Then we shall have one presidential candidate for Jubilee and ODM…In terms of an alliance, it has to be an alliance of the willing. If other parties express interest in joining the alliance then we will have them on the table.” Tuju stated.

He added that President Uhuru Kenyatta has made a lot of sacrifices to leave behind a united nation and the partnership with ODM is part of his efforts to achieve this even as other politicians driven by selfish interests have started scheming about 2022.

“This is not an easy path and we need to be honest to ourselves as a country and if we refuse to do so we will repeat the same mistake.

“This president made a lot of sacrifices to even engage in the handshake. He won the elections, had the majority of MPsa and Senators and did not even need to reach across the aisle but he did.” Tuju stated.

He added that another meeting will be convened over the next 10 days to finalize on the matter once each side has consulted with their political parties.

“Our next meeting is within the next 10 to 15 days once we report back to our respective parties. With consolations.

“We are talking all the time and it has to be in time for the 2022 elections. Of course we have the express permission and blessings of Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.” Tuju stated as captured in the video below.
