The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition Members of the Nairobi County Assembly caucus have endorsed South C MCA-elect Abbas Khalif and former deputy county assembly speaker Ken Ngondi for the positions of leader of the majority and assembly speaker respectively.
The leaders have all agreed that all Nairobi leaders elected on ODM, Jubilee and Wiper parties will support Abbas and Ken Ng’ondi to the last man when the county assembly convenes this Thursday for the swearing in of members and election of the speaker and house leadership.
The Nairobi Azimio leaders endorsed the South C MCA Abbas and Ng’ondi noting that the two had the requisite qualities to steer the business of the county ahead from where former majority leader and current Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo had left.
The Azimio caucus majority elected MCA’s MP’s and Sub county elected party delegates have vowed to support the two for the the positions.
At the same time, they also said that they are confident that the Azimio side, which is the majority in the assembly will also bag the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) since the Governor is from UDA and therefore, the chairman of PAC cannot come from the same party. PAC is led by the minority side of the house and keeps checks and balances on the executive which is led by the governor.
