Board members of Kenya Transport and safety authority NTSA has given its director general George Njau a compulsory leave of 30 days and appointed Cosmas Ngeso as the acting DG.
Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi, the chairman of NTSA Aden Noor Ali said the action was taken so as to investigate some of the information they need to get until the board will decide otherwise.
The board also said measures will be taken to restore safety and sanity of our roads including strictly enforcing the NTSA( operation of PSV) Regulations 2014 like requirement of a valid inspection for all vehicles, road service lincences for all vehicles, valid driving licences and PSV badges for all drivers and conductors
Following public service and operators or saccos who have been involved infatilities in the last 30 days, their licences have been suspended with immediate effect such as Taita Taveta, Tahmeed sacco, Team Swat logistics & Management Limited, Kyoga Hauliers Kenya Limited.
