Kenyans Raise These Reactions After Court Ordered IEBC To Clear This Popular Mt Kenya Politician.

The majority of Kenyans in Kiambu County are now experiencing the long-awaited moment. This comes after the High Court ordered Hon. Thangwa was eyeing the Kiambu county senatorial seat to be cleared by Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission through its chairman Wafula Chebukati.

This comes after Hon. Thangwa was deemed unfit to run for this seat due to his resignation from the position, which the IEBC claimed was unlawful.

In your opinion, how would DP Ruto’s standing in the Kiambu and Mount Kenya region as a whole be affected by Karungo’s plans to seek a Senate seat via the UDA party?

  • Why no Kenyan celeb was featured in Young, African and Famous show

Why no Kenyan celeb was featured in Young, African and Famous show

If you ask me today what I think about reality shows, I’ll tell you they are not necessary. Yet, at this point; they continue to prove otherwise.

Ever wondered whether any show could be more repetitive and pointless than Wife Material? Well, read on. Cringe reality shows are the epitome of so-bad-that-it’s-good television, and Kenya has a huge collection of these.

Currently, there is a state of unrest on social media thanks to the new reality TV show that featured some of the most influential names in Africa including Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania, Zari Hassan from Uganda, Annie Idibia from Nigeria and Khanyi Mbau from South Africa.

The show revolves around the stars’ day to day activities and how they handle different situations from time to time as friends. So why was there no Kenyan celebrity on the show? Does it mean we still have a lot to do when it comes to reality shows?

Let’s see what might have disqualified us from the show.

A reality TV show is not all about fighting

Have you ever come across a show that is so bad that you can’t look away and you end up watching every bit of it? That show is Nairobi diaries. Celebrities like Vera Sidika featured in our very own Nairobi Diaries that aired for about 9 seasons. You can’t spell fight without Nairobi Diaries. There can be drama without people getting aggressive physically.

Scripted, but do it with style

Eric Omondi’s reality show; Wife Material was so scripted that a blind man could tell. No matter how terrible it was, people were still glued, probably because of the bad scripting and contestants overplaying their part. There was drama in Young, African and Famous, but so far, no one has laid a finger on a fellow contestant. There are so many ways of handling certain issues without fighting, people!

Maybe celebrities turned down the offer

Netizens have been talking about how Amberay and Betty Kyallo could have been on the show. But what if Betty Kyallo was actually contacted but couldn’t say yes because she is already working on her reality show?

Kenyan celebrities have nothing to show

When someone said fake it till you make it, Kenyans understood the assignment. Especially Kenyan celebrities. Up to date, we are still wondering why the Bahati’s are driving around with a car with no number plate and haven’t yet moved to their new ‘mansion’.

Anyway, I don’t have a say in that. For one to qualify in the Young, African and Famous show, you have to be rich. What is the net worth of a top Kenyan artist? I’ll wait.

With all that said, I actually watched every episode of Nairobi Diaries. Despite the cringe comedy and the unnecessary drama, I wanted more. Maybe that’s us, and we should embrace it. Hopefully, we’ll get to see our very own on season 15 of Young, African and famous.

  • Elect leaders with high integrity

Tana River voters have been urged to elect visionary leaders with unquestionable integrity for the county to develop with only 35 days remaining before the general election.

Muslim for Human Rights (MUHURI) with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in a programme dubbed Kenya Electoral Conflicts Mitigation and Civic/Voter Education Support (ECCES) conducted a community dialogue forum in Hola.

“Today we are here in Hola to hold a meeting with young people and women as well as the IEBC to inspire young people and women so that they can elect moral leaders who will run this county peacefully,” Ogle Abdi, MUHURI Field Officer said.

He went on: “We also aim to sensitize the youth to maintain peace and security especially as elections approach because Tana River has a bad history when elections approach. We lost many people in 2012, while in 2017 some rumours and riots contributed to conflict, and chaos.”

Abdi encouraged the youth to maintain peace and elect leaders with integrity and not look at issues of ethnicity, religion, race, and even friendship.

Pastor Richard Osoro of Pentecostal Assembly of God (P.A.G) church, speaking at the same function, said religious leaders are at the forefront preaching peace to the congregants.

“As we come to the election epoch, we educate worshippers to choose the best leaders who will focus on peace and those who care about the interests of the people,” said Pastor Osoro.

He further added: “We have emphasized and continue to insist on peace for Kenyans to stick together so that Kenya can be more peaceful. We have been praying that the elections will be peaceful and I have high hopes that it is peace and development that we want in Kenya.”

  • Education ministry takes action after two students die at Mukumu Girls

Education ministry takes action after two students die at Mukumu Girls

The Ministry of Education has ordered a probe into the death of two students at Mukumu Girls High School in Kakamega County.

Reports indicate that the two students were among at least 28 students receiving treatment at various hospitals in Kakamega after an outbreak of malaria in the school last month.

Pressure from parents forced the Ministry of Education to take action last week.

A team led by Kakamega County Director of Education Dickson Ogonya is conducting the investigations.

“We have instructed the ministry of education on the ground to visit the school and investigate the reports relating to the deaths of students and prepare a report that will be submitted to the Ministry of Education for action,” Western Region Coordinator of Education Stephen Barongo told Nation Africa.

The investigation team is under instruction to speak to students, teachers and other workers at the school as part of investigations into negligence allegations as the cause of the two deaths.

The Education Ministry expects a report from the team tomorrow, July 6.

It is alleged that one of the students identified as Nicole had a pre-existing condition and died while receiving treatment for malaria.

Plans are underway to lay her to rest on Thursday, July 7.

he other student is said to have developed complications after undergoing an operation. K24 Digital couldn’t independently verify what the student was suffering from.

    Mukumu Girls’ parents allege negligence

However, some of the parents, who took to social media to vent their frustrations, took issue with the management’s alleged slow response to malaria cases first reported in the institution in late May.

They faulted the management for failing to inform the parents about the outbreak.

Some parents claim their children arrived home complaining of fever, stomachache and fatigue when schools closed on June 30.

  • KBC Acquires Broadcasting Rights To Air Sporting Events

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has acquired Free-to-air broadcasting rights to air various sporting events both locally and internationally that will take place between July 1, 2022, and May 22, 2023.

The sporting events include FIBA Africa World Cup qualifiers in Alexandria, Egypt from July 1 to 3, 2022, World Athletics Championships in Eugene, United States of Americfromon July 15 to, 2022, and Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the United Kingdom on July 28 to August 8, 2022, and the World Under 20 Athletics, in Cali, Colombia on August 1to 6, 2022.

Unveiling the KBC Sporting events at a Nairobi hotel on Wednesday  ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru said the Corporation has made a significant investment to acquire the rights and encouraged the private, public, and donor sectors to seize the opportunity to buy advertising space from the broadcasting corporation during the airing of the eight sports events.

He expressed confidence that 100 percent of Kenyans will come together to experience and enjoy the events as they are attracted to football, athletics, and rugby.

“Famous sportsmen and women locally and internationally will be beamed live across KBC channels into the sitting rooms and other spaces in the country in the next year. It will in no doubt bring us all together,” said Mucheru.

The CS noted sport has the power to change the world, inspire, unite people, speak to the youth in a language they understand, create hope where there is despair, and is more powerful than governments in breaking down barriers.

He at the same time called upon KBC to utilize the opportunity to engage the youth who come together to enjoy the sport for good, as well as create hope for the success of the country.

“As I applaud the management and the Board of Directors of KBC for the efforts in ensuring that you acquire these exclusive broadcast rights, let Kenyans know that you have what it takes to provide their content needs,” urged Mucheru.

He said the government has developed transformation strategies to revitalize the operation of KBC and Postal Corporation of Kenya to make them vibrant and viable government institutions and will continue to equip KBC with broadcast equipment, personnel, and updated ICT infrastructure.

The CS cited the successful transition from analog to digital television and radio which led to the increase of 130  television stations up from 13 in 2013, and 204  radio stations up from 130 in 2013, noting that the massive expansion in the digital space has seen hundreds of thousands of Kenyans successfully monetize on various digital avenues.

“Through our expansion of the digital space, the government has enabled small and medium enterprises, regional community, and church-based broadcasters throughout the country to create niche routes for direct engagements,” he said.

The dividends of the investments in undersea fiber cable are manifested in the internet penetration rise from 31.4 percent in 2013 to 93.9 percent in 2022, cellular phone penetration increase from 74.9 percent in 2013 to 131 percent, and an increase in mobile money transfers from Sh1.9 trillion to Sh6.8 trillion.

In the upcoming general elections, the CS called upon Kenyans to use it to exercise their democratic rights to vote.

“Ask your leaders what you need from them and ensure that you are informed as you elect your choices in August. Do not allow others to decide for you, take time to understand and make a choice based on your needs,” urged Mucheru.

He challenged KBC to create a programming schedule that enlightens and brings out the best of each person, especially during this electioneering period.

Broadcasting and Telecommunications Principal Secretary Esther Koimett who graced the event commended KBC for rebranding, saying that the programs aired have attracted many viewers as they are informative, entertaining, and full of wisdom.

In his remarks the KBC Board Chairman Eng. Benjamin Maingi thanked the government for supporting the corporation and promised that the motivated KBC staff will deliver to Kenyans as they are up to the task.

He urged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the free-to-air sporting event to advertise their goods and services.

  • It’s Naivas again in Naivasha, Residents With a New Outlet

It’s Naivas again in Naivasha, Residents With a New Outlet

Kenyan real estate company Dowgate Properties has today opened its first Safari Centre highway service
station, on the A104 at Naivasha, in a new servicing model for motorists and travelers, offering facilities
from electric vehicle charging stations to children’s play areas, restrooms, restaurants, and retail stores,
    right beside the highway.

The center’s electric charging points are the first outside Nairobi and will make it possible for high-end electric vehicles to drive from Nairobi to Kisumu and back, by charging each way at the Naivasha Safari
Centre. This is the biggest expansion yet to the distance electric vehicles can cover in Kenya and comes
ahead of government plans to add charging stations countrywide.

“Car ownership and traveling have changed completely in the last decade and are set to change even
more as Kenyans, who now register seven times as many cars each year as they did 15 years ago, also
begin to shift towards electric vehicles (EVs). All these trends have created a demand for a new kind of
service station for travelers on the country’s vastly expanded and upgraded highway network” said
James Hoddell, Founder and Director of Dowgate Properties.

Hundreds of thousands of travelers now use Kenya’s trunk highways traveling much longer, continuous
distances than was normal when the roads were poorly surfaced and car ownership was less widespread. However, this has made tiredness a real danger for drivers, without adequate stops.

Kenya has one of the highest rates in the world of lethal road accidents, with the majority taking place on the three major highways of Nairobi to Thika, Nairobi to Mombasa, and Nairobi to Nakuru Eldoret. These roads also account for most of the country’s 80-plus accident hotspots.

Tiredness causes around a quarter of all fatal and serious road accidents, with tiredness-related crashes
most likely to occur on long journeys on monotonous roads or highways, according to The Royal Society
for the Prevention of Accidents in the UK. Stopping the vehicle in a safe place, drinking a caffeinated
drink, and taking a short nap are the only ways to relieve dangerous levels of tiredness while driving, the
society reports. “Drivers need to be well-rested and refreshed, to be vigilant, alert, and safe,” said Derrick Ngokonyo, the Naivasha Safari Centre Manager.

The Naivasha Safari Centre is anchored by supermarket Naivas and a wide range of eateries, including ArtCaffe, Chicken Inn, Creamy Inn, Galitos, and Pizza Inn. It also offers a car wash, pharmacy, children’s play areas, and events, as well as an entirely new kind of designer-rest room, under Dowgate’s high-tech rest-room brand, Loo4U, a petrol station, curio shops, and a Dr. Mattress store. Naivas has opened the Safari Centre with plans to service some of the 400,000 local shoppers in and around Naivasha, as well as the estimated 200,000 travelers a month who are expected to stop at the service center.

The Safari Centre is the first of many, now at various stages of construction by Dowgate Properties, with
the next due to be built on the Nairobi to Nyeri road at Makutano in Kirinyaga. With further electric
charging stations at Makutano, the developer’s second center will ensure it is possible to travel from
Nairobi to the Mount Kenya region by electric vehicle.

  • UPA Party unveils Kenneth Nyamwamu as Nairobi gubernatorial Aspirant

United Progressive Alliance UPA party unveiled Kenneth Nyamwamu as their Nairobi Gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming August 2022 General elections.

This move was supported by various Nairobi leaders present, and UPA party members who saw the need for better leadership in Nairobi county.

”My plans to the County Government of Nairobi will be to make Nairobi business-friendly, reduce all business licenses by half, provide electricity and water to all people living in informal settlements, provide and  an app to be used by visa boss riders to help increase efficiency and safety in their business,  Improve service delivery to all Nairobians, develop affordable and reliable public transport in Nairobi to eliminate traffic experienced.” Said Nairobi Gubernatorial Aspirant Kenneth Nyamwamu.

UPA party will also look to support the Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate, Hon. Raila Odinga.

The running mate for the UPA party Lillian Ocholla further noted that she accepted the nomination as the running mate and was ready to work for the Nairobi people as she was presented with the certificate together with the Aspirant.

He further noted that Youths are not employed due to a lack of opportunities. When elected, he will ensure there are more companies and industries created in Nairobi to employ more youth.

  • Ruto team promises people-driven projects

    Ruto team promises people-driven projects

Today, leaders of the Kenya Kwanza Coalition pitched camp in Kakamega, Busia, and Bungoma counties in another round of campaigns in the region, popularizing the ‘bottom-up, pesaPesa mfukoni’ economic model.

The team led by Deputy President William Ruto, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula started the day off with a consultative economic forum with the people of Busia County, taking views from representatives of different sectors on what they wanted to be done for them if the coalition forms government in August.

Members from the Boda Boda sectors, artists, cross-border traders, teaching fraternity, community health volunteers, the saloon, jua kali, PLWD, and farmers aired out their challenges, views, and proposals on improving and empowering their sectors.

The bottom-up economic model is modeled along four pillars that include production, value addition, market, and financial benefit.

Addressing the representatives at Mangatsi Technical and Vocational College, the DP noted that the countrywide consultative forums involved the citizens in deciding on the projects they want.

“Kenya Kwanza administration is changing the conversation from politicking to issue-based where the people decide the projects that are beneficial to them,” he said.

Ruto said the coalition’s administration will restore the ailing hotel industry in the border town of Busia as well as expand the Kisumu-Busia road with a modern parking bay at the border town for the trucks.

“We want to change the politics of our country and that is why we are having such town hall issue-based conversations. In the past, campaigns have been more of politicking and having politicians say what they want and not have the people decide what they want to be done for them,” he said the event also attended by Busia Governor aspirant Sakwa Bunyasi, former Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba and ANC party Chairman Kevin Lunani.

The team also addressed rallies at Buchifi in Mumias West, Eshisiru in Lurambi, and Chwele in Bungoma County.

Ruto noted that the Kenya Kwanza administration will strive to revive the collapsed industries like the tobacco ginnery, the fish sector, and, the sugar industry to create jobs and spur the economy.

“Our politics are not about sharing positions but tackling issues that affect the common mwananchi and do away with the pride of some leaders who think Kenyans are fools,” he added.

He promised that as President, he will be going to the people through such forums where Kenyans get to say what they want to be done for them.

“As leaders, it’s high time we start thinking about the common man in mind, how to transform the country and increase the life expectancy of our people,” he said.

Mudavadi challenged the people of Busia to join the Kenya Kwanza team informing the fifth government.

The ANC leader questioned the government’s sincerity in telling Kenyans that the economy has grown by seven percent yet many Kenyans are hard hit by the high cost of living.

“They are telling us that the economy is growing while the prices of goods have gone up. The cost of fuel is at its highest. Kenyans are suffering,” he said.

He noted that the opinion polls being released every week, showing that Azimio and its leader are favorites for the August poll are State-funded and a ploy to cheat Kenyans.

He asked the Busia people to join the coalition and guarantee a round one victory adding that Azimio candidate Raila Odinga is a State House project who is being controlled and told what to say and do.

“The current Raila is not the Raila I campaigned for in 2017 or the one we were within 2007. This is a remote-controlled Raila who will not be the one running the government but controlled by a remote on what to do,” Mudavadi said, as he dismissed his candidature.

The Amani leader came to the defense of the Deputy President over accusations by Uhuru of disserting him when he needed his help in running the government.

“For over two years, the Cabinet has not met to discuss the affairs of the country. The President took away all his responsibilities and delegated them to someone else, how then can he accuse Ruto of not helping him?” he posed.

Mudavadi said his decision to join forces with the DP and support his presidential bid was a sacrifice he had made in the interest of the country.

“My people, where do you and your generations want to be? What have you gained from Azimio and the support given to Raila Odinga for decades?” he asked.

He added: “We have supported the leader for many years and we never gained anything.”

Wetang’ula noted that the Kenya Kwanza administration has developed a blueprint meant to bolster the economy, noting that the Mombasa-Busia/Malaba road will be made a dual carriage.

He reached out to the western electorate to vote for the coalition’s candidates. “I want to tell the people of Busia that this is your bedroom and you should not allow any person to come here and tell you that this is his region. No, you should know where your interests are and that is in Kenya Kwanza,” he said.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria urged the people to highlight their problems so that they can be addressed promptly.

He noted that Kenyans have solutions to their problems only if they are given a platform to highlight them, adding that Kenyans should forget about politics of tribalism and positions and embark on building the economy.

He said Kenya belongs to all her people and no one should claim that he downtowns or controls whichever region.
