George Wackoyah’s Wife Dazzles Kenyans with American Accent

Miller Lee Chatham, the wife of Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah, has amazed Kenyans with her American accent after addressing reporters in his village in Matungu, Kakamega county. Wajackoyah expressed his disappointment in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) after the KIEMS kit failed.

During an address to the media where he complained about being asked to wait to vote after the KIEMS kits failed, Wajackoyah called on her to help his case. He was later allowed to vote. “My wife here was telling me… please, let Kenyans hear your voice for the first time,” he said as she smiled looking a tad rattled.

“I wasn’t really expecting this,” she said. “But it’s very disappointing for the machines to not be working on the day that’s most important to the lives of all Kenyans concerned. However, no weapon formed against us the people of God, the people of Kenya shall prosper. That’s the ground that we stand on, so, you all remain vigilant, remain cool, remain calm and we’ll see this thing to the end, thank you.”

He wondered whether it was a ploy to steal his votes before inviting his wife to address the press. “Let Kenyans hear your voice for the first time,” he said. Speaking to the nation for the first time, she echoed Wajackoyah’s sentiments on the IEBC while reaffirming their belief in God. Lee also admitted that her hubby’s invite caught her unawares.

The former detective said his wife stays in the US while the children are based in the UK. The scholar added that he was working on getting his family Kenyan citizenship.

  • Towel Man, Mahindi Man Hit Headlines as Kenyans Queue to Vote

Towel Man, Mahindi Man Hit Headlines as Kenyans Queue to Vote

Kenyans are never dull people when it comes to elections. They will always do anything to spice up the elections, and 2022’s General Election has not been different.

A man walked to a Nairobi polling station eating roasted maize and looked comfortable despite the stares from other voters. This gentleman showed up at the polling station wearing a black t-shirt, a towel around his waist, and sandals. The man looked unbothered and queued until he cast his vote.

Silas Odhiambio was spotted eating bread at a polling station in the early morning of August 9, 2022, while queuing to vote. Imitating Githeri Man’s actions in the 2017 election, Silas took to the voting queues with a loaf of bread at Karanda Primary School in Kisumu County.

African culture Ghetto king, A voter from Old Kibera Primary School where Raila Odinga voted, stunned voters after going to vote wearing an outfit made from banana barks and leaves with a matching hat.

The YouTuber stole the show at the polling station, and quite a number of people asked for a photo with him. This man was spotted carrying ugali maize flour, salad, eggs and tomatoes and seemed unbothered.

  • Munya reads malice in suspension of Kakamega, Mombasa governor polls

Munya reads malice in suspension of Kakamega, Mombasa governor polls

Agriculture CS Peter Munya has criticized the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission for ill-preparedness due to the postponement of the Mombasa and Kakamega gubernatorial polls.

UNITED KENYA: Agriculture CS Peter Munya at Muthara on Wednesday, August 3.

Munya said the suspensions may lead to low voter turnout. The two are seen as strongholds of Azimio La Umoja Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga. “You can imagine they will wait for another time to cast their votes. This time it has many challenges and you can imagine the people of Kakamega and Mombasa who won’t go to vote for the governor of their choice. Since it has happened, we hope IEBC learns from their mistakes,” Munya said.

However, Munya exuded confidence that Raila will win by a large margin. He spoke after casting his vote on Tuesday in At Nchui Primary School, Muthara Ward in Tigania East. At the polling stations at Ngage Secondary school, Ikana, Thai, Ngongoaka, Thathi and Miurine primary schools, there was low voter turnout in the early hours.

In most of the polling stations in Tangatha Ward, Tigania East constituency, the voting was slightly hampered by KIEM kits failure to recognise fingerprints from some voters, especially the elderly.

Meru Deputy Governor Titus Ntuchiu, who cast his vote at Mwithanga Primary School, took issue with IEBC officials for denying some of the Devolution Empowerment Party (Mbus) agents a role to observe the voting process. Ntuchiu urged Meru residents to turn out in large numbers and vote for a candidate with a development track record.

“I am confident [Governor] Kiraitu will win. I want to condemn one of our opponents whom we have got information about bribing voters at Tutua polling station. Once you vote go home, tune to your favourite TV or Radio to get updates of the outcome,” Ntuchiu said after voting.

He said Kenyans should exercise tolerance and accept the outcome of the results as announced by IEBC. Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi voted at Irimbene Primary School, while his opponent Senator Mithika Linturi voted at Urra Tea Buying Center.

Kiraitu asked candidates to exercise maturity during and after elections. He called on his competitors to accept the outcome and restrain their supporters from causing any disruption.

In a briefing by vice chairperson Juliana Cherera, the IEBC said voting in diaspora (Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, United Kingdom, Canada, USA, South Sudan, Qatar, and Germany) will be conducted within the local time of the said regions. “It will take place from 6 am and 5 pm their local time,” she said.

The commission further announced that voting has been suspended in Kitui Rural and Rongai over ballot papers mixups. “The commission is working hard to ensure materials are in place,” Cherera said.

Voting has also been adjourned in Eldas following a fracas that affected the distribution of materials in the constituency. “During the gunfire, poll officials remained trapped. The election has been adjourned and the issue is to be resolved,” she said.

In Turkana, two clerks and a presiding were involved in a car accident, delaying the start of voting at the affected polling station. They were discharged after treatment for minor injuries. IEBC further reported that due to the security situation in Daadab, four polling stations are yet to be opened.

The commission further announced that the use of a manual register has been allowed in 84 polling stations in Makueni, and 154 polling stations in Kakamega. Malava, Matungu, Mumias East, Mumias West were affected by delays. Presiding officers will extend the voting exercise by the amount of time lost.

  • IEBC: Only 200 KIEMS Kits Are Reported To Have Failed

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has responded to reports of KIEMS Kit failures in several polling stations across the country.

In a press conference on Tuesday, IEBC commissioner Justus Nyang’aya denied reports of widespread KIEMS kit failure, saying the isolated cases were due to normal technological breakdown.

By the time the IEBC provided an update at around 1PM on Tuesday, only 200 kits had been reported to have malfunctioned.

“What we have received and addressed is about 200 failure of KIEMS kits out of 46,229 kits, this is not a widespread break down,” Nyanga’aya told the media.  “Technology breaks down and when it does we have ways of how we address this, which we have already done, I think this is a normal thing what is happening

According to Nyang’aya, the IEBC anticipates that some of the kits will fail, but this does not imply that the errors are widespread.

During the same press conference, IEBC vice chairperson Juliana Cherera discussed the status of polls across the country.

According to Ms Cherera, when the kits fail, ICT officers are dispatched to investigate the cause, after which the returning officer may e-mail the IEBC to request permission to use the manual register.

Early Tuesday, presidential contender George Wajackoyah was among voters who were forced to wait after kits at the Indangalasia Primary School polling station went belly up.

Addressing the press at Indangalasia Primary School, the presidential hopeful said he was disappointed and criticised IEBC for the failure.

“I am a disappointed man because all my competitors have voted; I am told Raila voted, Mwaure has already voted. I just spoke with him to congratulate him, and Ruto has voted. So why only me? Why Kakamega County? Why didn’t they test the kits?… I don’t know what to say,” he said.

Prof. Wajackoyah further termed Kakamega as one of his main voter strongholds, saying the delay was robbing him of significant support for his bid. “I am not an engineer and if they tell me the kits are not working, then I listen to them. I have lost millions of votes, Kakamega is one of my strongholds,” he added.

Wajackoyah Finally Votes After 3-Hour Delay Over KIEMS Kit Hitch

Roots Party presidential candidate Prof. George Wajackoyah has finally been able to cast his vote after a 3-hour delay at Indangalisia Primary polling station in Kakamega County, due to failure of the IEBC KIEMS kit.

Prof. Wajackoyah turned up at Indangalasia Primary School on Tuesday at around a quarter past 10 but was unable to vote due to the KIEMS kit failure which delayed the kick-off of the exercise.

As of noon, no one in the polling station had cast their vote.

But at around 1 pm, the Roots Party leader and voters at the station began casting their ballots after the electoral body approved the use of a manual register.

Prof. Wajackoyah had cried foul for being forced to wait indefinitely to cast his vote, saying he was disappointed and criticised IEBC for the failure.

“We are waiting to see what happens, like they have said. They said they would give us another 11 hours and asked us to be patient,” Prof. Wajackoyah told voters outside the polling station earlier in the morning.

The presidential race has attracted four contenders: the Roots Party leader himself, David Mwaure of the Agano Party, Deputy President William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza, and Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition’s Raila Odinga.

Polling stations opened at 6am across the country and DP Ruto and Mr. Mwaure were among the early voters.

Dr. Ruto cast his vote some minutes past 6am at Kosachei Primary School in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County, flanked by his wife Mama Rachel Ruto.

Mr. Mwaure meanwhile cast his vote at Upper Hill Secondary School in Nairobi alongside his wife Ann Mwaure at around 7:15am.

Their other competitor, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga voted at the Old Kibera primary school in Nairobi some minutes to 11am.

  • ‘Tutakuweka Ndani!’ Atwoli Tells DP Ruto Over Remarks On Police Officers

This after a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders have in the recent past decried the alleged heavy deployment of police officers to some parts of the Rift Valley region, claiming the move will only serve to upset peace in the region.

Speaking during an Azimio la Umoja One Kenya campaign rally in Kisii on Tuesday, Atwoli said such remarks by DP Ruto and his team were getting out of hand and the government will soon be forced to take action against him.

He castigated the DP saying his utterances were intimidating police officers, and that his complaints against the deployment of the servicemen and women to Rift Valley were out of line.

At the same time, Atwoli promised that if Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga manages to win the August polls, then the police welfare would be improved.

“Asilete mambo ya kuingilia polisi; alisimama kusema police watolewe (Rift Valley)…polisi ni wafanyikazi, asicheze na polisi,” Atwoli stated.

“I am asking Matiang’i…ni kijana mdogo sana na anaweza kuwa a very good boxer na huwezi kumpiga…toa warning kama William anaendelea hivyo sisi tutaweka yeye ndani. Wangapi wanasema awekwe ndani?”

Let him respect the police, the police cannot issue papers to say other tribes to vacate a certain area.”

  • We will Hold Final Rally In Nairobi CBD If Denied Access To Nyayo Stadium – Wetangula

Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula now says that the Kenya Kwanza coalition will hold its final campaign rally on Saturday, August 6 in the Nairobi Central Business Department (CBD) if they are denied access to the Nyayo Stadium.

Addressing residents of Eldama Ravine in Baringo County on Monday, Wetangula said the coalition led by Deputy President William Ruto would pitch camp at the junction between Moi Avenue and Kenyatta Avenue.

“On Saturday, August 6, our meeting if you don’t open Nyayo Stadium will be at the junction of Moi Avenue and Kenyatta Avenue,” Wetangula said.

The senator sought to assure their supporters of peace during the Saturday event, saying that police officers would only be present to offer protection.

“Just as we did in Eldoret, we will notify the police, because the law does not require them to give us permission, it requires we give them notice,” the senator said.

“Polisi wakikuja watalinda maduka ya watu na sisi tutakuwa na mkutano at the junction of Moi and Kenyatta Avenue.”

This follows a directive from the Ministry of Sports that denied access to Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalitions entry into Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums due to peace events scheduled for the said dates.

“We regret to inform you that due to peace concerts scheduled to take place at both Moi International Sports Centre-Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium between 5th to 7th, the facility will not be available for your use,” read a statement signed by Pius Metto, the Sports Kenya Director General.

The Raila Odinga-led Azimio coalition on the other hand has since resolved to shift its final rally ahead of the August 9 polls to Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani

Late Chris Msando Mother’s Message To Kenyans Ahead Of August 9th Elections

Speaking at her home in Lifunga-Kobiero, Ugenya sub-county, Aloo drummed up support for Azimio candidate Raila Odinga saying he was the best bet in the upcoming elections. “I want to urge Kenyans to vote for Raila he is the one who will change this country,” she said.

The late Msando’s mother said she is still in pain over the murder of her son who was brutally killed in the run-up to the 2017 General Election.

She regretted that since her son’s demise, the government has remained silent on what transpired and all that she’s left with are the sweet memories of her late last born son Chris Msando.

“Since Chris died I have been in so much pain. Even his children have been disturbed. We are yet to get justice in court,” she said.

“We have never received any information from the government regarding my son’s death… We have even never been called to court over the issue.”

The family of Chris Msando will gather this Saturday, July 30 at their home in Lifunga-Kobiero for a commemoration ceremony in honor of the deceased.

The murder of Chris Msando is one of Kenya’s unresolved high-profile cases.

Msando had been tasked with overseeing public testing of the Kenya Integrated Electoral Management System (KIEMS). He was confident that the electoral voting system would not allow rigging of votes during elections.

Msando was found dead on July 28, 2017, four days after disappearing during the run-up to the last General Election.

His body was found dumped at Muguga Forest in Kikuyu, Kiambu County alongside the body of a young woman.

Meanwhile, Former IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe has also remembered the late ICT Manager at the electoral commission Chris Msando exactly five years after he was brutally murdered.

Akombe, through her Twitter account on Thursday, remained hopeful that justice will one day be served to bring to book Msando’s killers.

Five years later the file is still with the investigating team, and answers to the mystery murder have remained unanswered.
