On Thursday 5th January, various places in the country will be having general elections. The majority of the seats became vacant after those who had been elected were appointed to various government positions.
Areas highlighted for the by-elections include; Elgeyo Marakwet where the senatorial seat became vacant after Kipchumba Murkomen was appointed to be CS for Transport and Infrastructure, Kandara Parliamentary by-election which became vacant after Alice Wahome was appointed to be CS for Water, Garissa Township constituency parliamentary by-election where the seat became vacant after Aden Duale was appointed to be the CS for Defense and the MCA by-election in Shella ward in Lamu.
Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua highlighted the UDA candidates who will be battling for the various seats with candidates from other parties. The candidates are;
“In the by-elections, our candidates Kisang William Kipkemoi (Senator, Elgeyo Marakwet County), Njuguna Chege (MP Kandara Constituency), Barrow Dekow Mohamed (MP Garissa Township Constituency), and Abduljabar Saamiya Mohamed (Shella Ward -Lamu County), will fly the UDA flag.”
Gachagua said that the UDA candidates had put their best foot forward during their campaigns and the party was confident of their win. He appealed to the electorate in the areas to come out in large numbers and vote for UDA candidates.
“Our candidates, you put your best in the campaigns. We are confident that you will win and join us in delivering on the Kenya Kwanza Plan. I appeal to the electorate in these areas to come out in large numbers and vote UDA candidates,” he said.
