Kwale Woman Leader Nimusimu Mwasina has raised concern over rampant cases of early marriages that are detriment to the progress of girls.
She says, The girl child is still vulnerable even as the government is hard on issues to do with FGM, FGBV and Early marriages.
The cases of girls being married off by their parents to older men in exchange to dowry are still ongoing Looking at the recent case of the Kajiado girl who had to risk her life by spending a night in the wilderness to evade forced marriage.
“I am raising my voice to say no to early marriages of our girls. The right to education is for both the boy and the girl child. Parents need to style up and ensure both their girls and boys go to school and avoid marrying off their girls. Educating a girl is educating the whole community.”
