Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), in partnership with Mater Misericordiae Hospital and the County Government of Kisii, will hold a two-day free medical camp at Nyamache Sub-county Hospital, Kisii County, on April 21st and 22nd, 2023.

The initiative is part of the Authority’s efforts to give back to the community and provide access to quality medical care in the country.

Over 3000 patients from Kisii County and surrounding areas are expected to attend the medical camp and receive free consultations, diagnoses, minor surgeries and medication.

The camp will also provide assistance to individuals who are experiencing dental problems, Breast Cancer, Pneumonia, Typhoid, Malaria, as well as HIV/AIDS counseling and testing, among other health conditions prevalent in the region.

The camp, which is an initiative of the KAA CSR program, will be the sixth edition with other similar camps previously held in Mombasa, Kisumu, Kajiado, Laikipia, and Trans-Nzoia Counties.

The primary objective of the initiative is to bring a positive change in the lives of communities that face challenges in accessing quality medical care.

“We are delighted to partner with Mater Hospital and the County Government to bring this free Medical Camp to Kisii County. We believe that health is a human right and we are committed to supporting the government’s agenda of providing universal health coverage for all Kenyans,” said Alex Gitari, Managing Director of KAA.

“Through this initiative, we hope to alleviate the burden of healthcare costs for the less fortunate in our society and to bring healthcare services closer to the people who need them the most. We encourage the residents of Kisii County and its environs to take advantage of this opportunity and attend the medical camp.” Gitari Added.

While commenting on the event, the Director of Medical Services at Mater Hospital, Dr. Kevin Rombosia noted that the outreach camp is in line with Mater’s vision and mission of providing access to high-quality healthcare to all segments of the population as per the key tenets of Universal Health Coverage.

Hon Simba Arati, Governor of Kisii County, emphasized that his administration prioritizes the health sector, as demonstrated by both budgetary allocations and a general focus on providing affordable healthcare services to the people of Kisii.

“My government is fully committed to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that the people of Kisii have access to healthcare services. I warmly welcome the joint effort between KAA and Mater Hospital to organize a free medical camp in our county, and urge all members of the public to visit the venue at Nyamache for free medical check-ups and advice.” Governor
