Kenya Urban Roads Authority KURA has lived up to its commitment of ensuring there is seamless movement in urban towns after it announced various programs which is collaborating with Mombasa County government.
Director General Silas Kinoti who met with Governor Abdulswamad Sharrif said the authority was looking into various ways of collaboration including as Intelligent Transport System and Bus Rapid Transport.
The team also discussed the construction of 2nd 3rd Nyali Bridge.
“KURA is strategic in working with County Governments in a bid to Enhance Urban Mobility and introduce modern technologies aimed at reducing traffic congestion.The collaboration is key in ensuring Mombasa County Transport System is seamless through the provision of better Roads design and upgrading of the current road network”, said Kinoti.
KURA has been using Artificial Intelligence to reduce traffic.
The AI technology system collects information about the route in real time, sends data to the cloud and uses analysis for traffic predictions.
It notifies road users of the best routes to their destinations.
Kinoti said the system will connect transport networks and improve improve the experience for all road users.
“There are real world projects around the globe and the applications are continuously expanding,” Kinoti said at a past event.
In Nairobi the authority is mooting a similar program.
