Kwale Woman leader Nimusimu Mwasina has thrown her weight behind the idea to boost local industries.
Women from both political divides have been wearing locally made kitenges.
“This is all about buy Kenya build Kenya. Locally made kitenges is the in thing when talking about women’s fashion, especially women in affluent political positions of power. Look at our First Lady Her Excellency Rachel Ruto and Hon. Martha Karua, they do put on Kenyan kitenge attire, a beautiful brand to wear during official functions. It’s not just these two women who wear Kenyan kitenge but nearly all Kenyan women from different political affiliations. This is one way of promoting our own products in the local markets and abroad. We are Kenyans and Kenya is our business.”
