Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has thanked his Excellency the President Dr William Ruto for his commitment to increase the national government affirmative action fund (NGAAF).
In her message to thank the president she noted:
“I want to laud the president for hosting and engaging County Woman MPs across the political divide.
As a goodwill gesture in the discussions to increase the kitty; he has given instructions to have it increased by Kshs. 1 billion in the next financial year.
I have incessantly called for the increase of the kitty so that County MPs are able to execute their mandate.”
He has further directed that county Mps shall oversee the distribution of sanitary towels within their respective jurisdictions.
In addition to that, he engaged us on pertinent issues plaguing the management, oversight and execution of our mandate through NGAAF.”
The National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) will be increased by Sh1 billion to Sh3 billion in the next financial year.
President William Ruto said the enhancement of the funds will help address the plight of the vulnerable.

He explained that the increment will also provide an avenue for the promotion of enterprises and value addition initiatives.
The President made the remarks on Thursday at State House, Nairobi, when he hosted Woman Representatives drawn from all the 47 counties.
He challenged the women leaders to be at the centre in promoting local manufacturers while acquiring the sanitary towels.

“I also urge you to step up and help in the fight against teenage pregnancies and female genital mutilation.”
