Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched a massive manhunt for a police officer who shot and killed his colleague in Naivasha on Christmas Day.
Authorities in Naivasha confirmed that the cop who is currently at large and armed, and who took off after the cold blood murder of his senior, went berserk when he was questioned for allegedly reporting to work late.
“There was a shooting incident at Kedong ranch AAPS camp, the scene has been visited and the in-charge No 222687 S/sgt Ayub Polo found fatally injured after being shot by No.231710 Cpl. Joseph Muthunga using A G3 rifle Serial No. A03055.”
Fellow officers at the camp confirmed that indeed the wanted officer had not shown up for duty as at the time he was required to, and that attempts to find out why by his superior ended tragically.
“The suspect came to the camp drunk and became angered after being questioned by the deceased why he was drunk and late yet he was expected to be on night duty,” part of the statement captured in the occurrence book at Utheri wa Lari Police Station in Naivasha read
At the scene, police recovered five 7.62mm spent cartridges.
“The scene was processed and body having gunshot wounds on the left ear, left shoulder and left lower knee taken to Umme mortuary Maai Mahiu awaiting postmortem.”
“The suspect who is at large with the said G3 rifle is under pursuit,” police said
