As the defilement cases continue to rise in the society, in Gusii land in Nyamira County it has been reported a case of defilement at St Andrews Kaggwa Girls Primary in Nyansiongo, Borabu Sub County. A senior teacher has been accused over the same defiling a class 7 girl. The suspect is now held at Manga Police station in Manga Ward.
The teacher is among the high ranking in command.
Yesterday on 5th Oct, 2022 it’s said that all tests were done at Sub County Hospital in Kijauri and they turned positive.
Defilement is proved when the the key ingredients of the offence of defilement including a proof of the age of the complainant, proof of penetration and proof that the appellant was the perpetrator of the offence.
In a Twitter post shared by Abuga Makori who is a renown political journalist and a parliamentary writer said that leadership should take fully responsibility and charge to tame out the cases. “This is a public institution and the leadership MUST take responsibility. We can’t pay 65,000 annually for our children to be DEFILED.” Makori lamented.
Abuga further shares photos on his social media platform terming the accused as a monster “above is the monster who defiled by 12-year-old niece. The second one is the victim during hospital tests on Wednesday.” Abuga Makori writes.
Makori finally feels devastated saying that the act is very appalling incident.
A person who commits an offence of defilement with a child aged eleven years or less shall upon conviction be sentenced to imprisonment for life.
Defilement of a child between the ages of 12 to 15 carries a sentence of 20 years imprisonment the penal code States further that defilement of a child between 16- 18 years old carries a sentence of 15 years imprisonment.
The accused is set to be arraigned in Keroka Magistrate Courts today 6th Oct, 2022. The victim is Abuga Makori’s niece and he is requesting for justice prevail as the country is up in fighting the acts.
